BT With the appearance of the Tycho 2 Catalogue in 2000, the original Tycho Catalogue is now sometimes referred to as the Tycho 1 Catalogue. Tycho 2 essentially supersedes Tycho 1, with the exception of the Tycho 1 parallaxes, which are generally of limited significance. The present section describes the Tycho 1 Catalogue as published. The principles described apply equally to the Tycho 2 Catalogue. Details of the data, the reductions, and the properties of the final catalogue, are given in the published Tycho Catalogue (ESA, 1997, Volumes 1 and 4).
